  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • In my job role I am an audit assistant for KPMG whereby I help do both interim and year end accounts. This involves daily interactions with different people and whilst I work with clients and different team members to get through the tasks of the job. In my job role there is an abundance of different responsibilities that are put in place to ensure that the tasks that I have been set are done up to standard and done correctly, as my work plays a part in the professional environment.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Throughout the role the key skill I have developed it my ability to liase with varying people, different skill groups of people. This is through the increasing number of interactions I have had to face with both clients and team members. All in which vary with their abilities and status in the hierarchy.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I thoroughly enjoy my programme as the environment is always changing, one moment you could be working with an E or D grade and all of a sudden you will be working with and being mentored by C,B and A grades which really brings you on as a person and ups your confidence.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by KPMG?
  • Appreciation from the team is key to feeling valued. Knowing that my work is being used professionally to complete an audit is a real factor into feeling valued. Knowing that my team trust my ability to do certain tasks and having the confidence to give me tasks in growing difficulty id key to my progression.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • My programme is very well structured with it being able to vary around my lifestyle whilst teaching me the professional side of my job, and aiding me through my education which is a large factor to why the programme is extreamly well structured. The mentoring is key as we all have our performance managers which are focused on our region which is extreamly useful.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • In terms of support, I think I receive a lot of different support which vary from different levels, from my training provider there is steps online with online lectures that aid me through the process of passing my exams and furthermore, there is online support groups in which presenters will present solutions to different questions the group are stuck on.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive a lot of support from my employees as they all recognise that I am a new starter therefore offer up a lot of different levels of support to me whether it be sparing time out their busy day helping me with different parts of accounting and thoroughly explaining it or aiding me with the task.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • My salary is outstanding for someone of my age and my experience and qualifications. It is able to meet the demands of my outgoings whilst maintaining levels of my social life where I am able to freely go out for food or on nights out whenever I want.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • There are many of opportunities outside of work in terms of going to schools and offering help and telling them about my experiences and opportunities that are available to them and letting them know that accountancy isn't as dull as people say it is.

  • Yes

  • KPMG is a worldwide company with an outstanding reputation for ensuring that everything is completed to the highest standard. Due to the nature of the business is of a high standard and such a friendly and helpful environment baring in mind the stress of the job.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to KPMG?
  • I would say be confident when applying for the job and be ambitious whilst applying. When getting through the initial stages you will need to appear confident and able to be able to be back whilst they see potential in you.
