I work in Portfolio Services Change as a trainee, because we are a change team our work is quite diverse. However, it mainly involves working with IT on change projects, this could be changes to one of the systems Schroder's use
One thing that I have definitely developed is my ability to speak more confidently and communicate effectively. This is a very important part of my role.
I've really enjoyed my time on the programme since I've learnt so much about the financial industry in particular asset management. My manager and the rest of my team are very supportive and are always there to help whenever I have any questions.
The traineeship programme at Schroder's is valued very highly and I think this is demonstrated by the opportunities Schroder's have given us. For example, we often have "Lunch and Learn" sessions with senior members and learn about their role at Schroder's and some of their experiences
It is very well structured, we have a qualification that we study for on the side and were given a timetable of things we would be doing each month when we first joined.
We have had some contact before and attending a few learning days
A great deal, they are very happy to answer any questions I have and understand that I need a couple of hours a week to revise for my qualification as well
The package we receive is great and certainly does cover my costs, Schroder's are very good in this aspect and provide travel loans and many other benefit schemes
Yes, Schroder's hold many events which you can get involved in such as Quiz nights and are happy for you to volunteer for a charity/organisation. They also bring in a number of guests who talk about what they do, as well as certain topics which may be useful to Schroder's employees to know about
Yes
I've learnt so much in the past couple of months here at Schroder's and have improved both my personal skills and learnt more about the asset management industry
Ask questions and ensure you know what Schroder's does and its heritage as well as the role you are applying for.
