I work in IT Service Management dealing with any IT escalations as well as major incidents. This can range from one of the board member's phone isn't working to the trading platform is down. It is my duty to organise and ensure that these get fixed as soon as possible. My role often entails jumping onto conference calls and managing those needed to fix the issue in question. This means that every day is different which is the thing I love most about my job.
The skill that I value the most that I have learnt is the ability to manage and engage with people that you've never met before. It is often a strange concept when you a junior and advising others who have years of experience what you want them to do.
The programme itself has been excellent for me and without it I would have been struggling to find a job of the same calibre.
I feel very valued. The programme itself has no rotation with other teams. Therefore you really are immersed in the working atmosphere. After just a few months I felt like I was a real part of the team and organisation rather than an intern. Schroders really do look after their employees with corporate benefits and training.
The programme isn't too structured which allows you to feel like you are part of the organisation rather than a trainee. There are often training sessions once every other month with a qualification in month 8 of the contract.
Excellent support. We have a dedicated team that focuses on providing Learning and development
Excellent support. There are loads of corporate benefits that you can make use of.
During the first year, salary is sufficient. If you are coming into London with nothing and starting work, you are able to rent accommodation and survive on your own.
We have a really strong sports and social committee which offer sport and other activities on a monthly basis which are all subsidised by Schroders.
Yes
Excellent place to work. The culture of the firm is the most important aspect to all employees. This company is very unique in that sense and all those that leave often come back later on in their careers.
Tailor your CV to the role you are applying for. Understand the core business and really emphasise on the culture aspect.
