  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I work on the T+ side of the business serving trade customers, writing weekly plans, getting trade customers upgraded to a trade account from their SF account, getting quotes, informing our cusomers of the best deals for them. Alongside this i also help to pick customer orders and other warehouse work.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learned how to better communicate with customers and the importance of body language over words. I have learned more about the business and its goals. I have developed more skills in being able to identify how to interact with different customers and find their individual needs and serve them appropriately.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I have found this programme very helpful for broadening my knowledge in all areas of trade. Learning about the best ways to help customers, health and safety, how to delegate jobs, building my confidence. I have enjoyed having the time to build on my own skills and grow in areas i wasn't so confident in.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I have found my programme to be very well organised. The webinars where planned out well and in advance, if i needed to change the date we easily organised a catch up for another date. I never found there was too much work at a time it was very manageable and there was support available when i needed it.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I have received a good amount of support from my employers. Making sure i had the time to complete my work without interruption and if i needed some support in finding information they was there to help. They made it very easy to fit in the webinars a within my shifts.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • My training provider has been great with supporting me when needed. When on the webinars she would make sure everything is understood and that all information is passed over. If i had any questions between these webinars i could drop her a message and she would get back to me with the answers.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The qualification and helped me see what goes into the company that maybe most people would miss. I feel a lot more confident with certain aspects of my job so i find myself thinking about these in certain scenarios and thinking what i can do to improve on myself or even to think about what else i could learn to help myself improve more.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • I know we have a life at screwfix platform which allows everyone from all over the country to communicate with eachother about anything. Some people like to ask questions or point out work related issues and some people like to put fun quizzes up or just day to day life statuses.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Screwfix to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • I have been with thecompany over 5 years now and i always say i would recommend to a friend. I find the work is varied but not over complicated which means you are always busy. You get good support from colleagues when needed and there is opportunity to progress within the business.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Screwfix?
  • Don't be afraid to ask questions if you are unsure on something, customers aren't always scary, if you work hard and crack on with your jobs you'll have no issues, don't worry about product knowledge too much. You will learn more about products over time and usually you can find out information online anyway.
