  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I am a Trade sales assistant, serving trade customers (offering best offers, 10%, vouchers, Tea & coffee) my job involves upgrades Screwfix customers over to our trade side (those EF + PF accounts), going through EOD, sales board, sale figures, putting through and finding potential Screwfix Credit accounts/key accounts. When there is change over, we get that done changing any POS, shop-floor re-plan insuring stock in filled through-out the day for our customers. Phone calls, quotes, talking to customers about Elecpacks and Heatpacks.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Yes - new online skills and how to talk to customers. Trade UK has been my strongest point and developed skills in that area, a long side gaining more responsibility on our trade side with projects working together as a team to set out targets, aims, what we expect from our trade side and needed to produce a document that showed our tasks/daily jobs/interaction - therefore I have learned how to structure my work around other people not just myself as well as product knowledge.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • To the point, I am still thinking about it when I am at home - I enjoy getting the customers in and bringing in extra for the store, and seeing how well our trade and Screwfix side do separately/together. Communicating with those inside the company/colleagues and I enjoy creating POS, posters, change over (choosing new products to put out).

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • We set out a daily/weekly brief of what is expected in the morning/evening/afternoon shifts which gives us structure, organisation on how often we contact customers, when we get tracking done, upgrades etc we try to give the best structure of the day depending on how the day is going.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • A lot of support - Always there if there are any questions, queries, if I am struggling with understanding a certain topic/module. The support is great and I hope it continues.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The qualification helps with my role as it gives me more knowledge on how to act, speak, and manage the shop floor. Better performance shows when I learn new skills, modules, and how to improve my role as trade sale assistant making my way up to trade supervisor. Eventually I'll feel 100% in my performance as I will know everything I need to know.
