  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I have worked for Screwfix for 6 year and I worked my way up from service assistant to trade supervisor now I look after a team of 3 in a daily basis I brief my team on a Monday for the week ahead and what is expected from them for that week and put daily figures on the board and serve my trade people.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Learnt lots of new skills and I have worked in three different stores around Plymouth and I am now doing a 12 months apprentership also completed a first aid course and worked loads to improve my computer skills I have also grown massively in confidence witch will help me improve in my role as supervisor.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy my apprentership it's helping me improve in my core skill as well as my computer skills helping me grow in confidence and is also given me lots of information and legislation that I didn't know about which is giving me more confidence within my work role.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • It's very well organized and structured it's one a month on a wednesday from nine till one with my tutor and work gives me a day a week out to do my modules and assesment and all my core skill so yes I would say is definitely well organized.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • work gives me a day a week out to do my modules and assesment and all my core skill so I would say that's my employer and branch manager are very supportive of me while doing my apprentership.my branch manager and all the supervisor and sa in my store are supportive.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • It's very well organized and structured it's one a month on a wednesday from nine till one with my tutor my tutor is very supportive he's been very patient with me because I struggle at first doing my apprentership and struggled working my way around the computer

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • It's helps me massively helped me grow massive in confidence and helping me learn my way around computers and helping me with my core skills helping me learn more about a business laws and health and safety legislation witch in tern will help me improve massively in my working role.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • We do go on meals and activities as a store with is payed for by the company and the company do get involved in raising money for charities by doing events that the Screwfix will let their get involved in which is all payed for by the company and the branch managers get the professional events.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Screwfix to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • They are a good company to work for they offer lots of chances off progressing and you got benefits 20 off in Screwfix they got a happi app witch give you discount on the high street store and glasses and they are a fair company to work for I would definitely recommend the company to a friend.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Screwfix?
  • I would just tell someone to be honest with the company not take the Mick out of them because if you are a reliable and honest staff member they are a fair company. I would also say put me down if they were a friend of mine because then they would come and ask me their appenion on they so that would be my advice to them
