  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role is to manage a team of 2 its starts on a monday by me doing a weekly plan for the 2 members of my team making sure i set them task to do for the week, this involves tracking the spends up the new upgrades, follow up any quotes that are in the quote folder and try and get some credit accounts and to build good customer relationships.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Yes I have learnt loads of new skills I am completing a apprenticeship witch has given me loads of confidence and loads of information I didnt no. I have completed a health and safety course to be able to key hold I have also learnt how to accept delivery into store

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy my programme very much like I said it has given me loads of convivence in my role in work each time I am learning new skills within my store which I very much enjoy I like my new store and I enjoy working with my new college's and I am also enjoying my apprenticeship.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I would say that its organised very well and I would also say its well structured. I have been given a plan of the course dates every month and the the whole year and if there needs to be changes because of personal life then that's ok to so the programme is very flexible.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive a massive amount of support from my employer I receive all my days out every week to do my assessments and I receive lots of new training from them also. I have received lots of support from my ASM and I have also received lots of support from the BM at ivybridge

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I have received some support from my training provider I find that my training provider is very busy as I am sure he has got a lot of learners but I do feel a little bit of extra support would go a long way. I do receive lots of good information from my sessions with my tutor.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I have gained lots of confidence during my programme so far and I have been able to take that confidence back to my work place and put things in place and been able to run my team a lot better which has help me perform better as a supervisor. I have also learnt my way around a computer a lot better.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Yes we do things as a store we do dress up days in work for the screwfix foundation we also go out as a store on social events we have been bowling we will all go out for a christmas meal and some drinks and since I have been with screwfix I have also been to a quiz night that the area manager set of for a charity close to his heart and I have been out on many different social event as I have worked at 3 different stores. I have also gained lots of new friends at screwfix in the last 6 years.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Screwfix to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • I feel thats screwfix is a fantastic company to work for they offer very flexable with working hours they look after their staff I lost my mum 12 months ago and I was out of the company for 6 weeks all together and i got paid for the whole 6 weeks with a mixture of compassionate leave and some hoilday and a few weeks sick pay and then when I went back to work I was still struggling with losing my mum so the company offered me someone who I could talk to which I accepted and its help a massive amount to get over losing my mum this is why i would recommend screwfix as a company to work for.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Screwfix?
  • I would just go to any interview and be honest well presented and be on time I would make sure you got a bit of knowledge of screwfix. I am a believer in just being yourself if you got a bit of a passion for plumbing and electrics then screwfix would be a good job for you.
