  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My daily tasks for this apprenticeship are to build parts for aircrafts and to go to college and to do college work, my daily interactions internally are with people whom I work with and people other people in my apprenticeship, the responsibilities are the same as any normal worker as the company will expect you to deliver product but there is an extra responsibility of keeping up with college work and in this apprenticeship you only really get projects from college and not often do you get projects from GE

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Some skills I have developed while being at GE are things like my people skills as before coming I was a lot quieter than after being here for about 6 months I have also developed my problem solving skills as I am getting better at solving problems at work and college. Skills I have gained while being at GE are things like adaptability as you have to adapt quite a bit during the company for different things like changing your area of work and for example a shift changeover.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy my programme very much as me personally I have just came out of secondary school and I much prefer the work life more as you are earning, getting experience and is more enjoyable, and college is also much preferable to me as you are getting paid to learn but also the lectures are better than your secondary school teacher.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme is structured very well as you are given dates and timelines for everything going on with your role and when everything is happening that you are involved in.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • In this apprenticeship you receive actually quite a lot of support from your employer to the point where they are not helping you all the time but when you need the support it is there as GE care a lot about their employees

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • The support from my training provider GlosCol is great as they are always supporting you, as if you need help or are struggling in anyway they will help you as they will give you extra questions, go through questions and will give some useful notes.

  • 9a. Would you recommend GE Aerospace to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I would recommend it to a friend as you earn while you learn which is good at my age and it is a good company to be at as it has good reputation and you get a very useful qualification out of this apprenticeship

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to GE Aerospace?
  • Advice I would give to someone applying is to be prepared as it is a change from where I have personally come from and to chill out as it does seem like a daunting place to work at but in all fairness it is a good time as it is quite strict but it is also enjoyable
