  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I am based within the compliance team in London. On a day to day basis I am invovled in a variety of tasks within the team. These tasks vary in difficulty and help to advance my knowledge. I am involved in tasks such as the preparation of taxpacks and computations.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt a variety of new skills since joining the programme. I have attended a variety of training courses to provide me with the necessary skills to be able to use the specific programmes that are used in the compliance team daily. I have also gained a new knowledge surrounding tax in general.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy the programme a lot. This is due to the fact that I am able to be involved in a variety of tasks which allow me to gain further knowledge. I also face challenging tasks which I enjoy as it allows me to work through and engage fully with the work. There is also a good friendly yet professional atmosphere which I enjoy working in.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by PwC?
  • I feel valued by PwC greatly. I have been sent on a variety of courses which shows the value that is placed on apprentices. It highlights the time they are wanting to put in to train us and to allow us to excel and advance. Everyone within the team and the firm is able to help if there is an issue and this helps with the feeling of being valued.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • From the offset the apprenticeship has had an outlined structure. We have been introduced to the structure and explained our path for progression. We also have a strong structure for our formal learning with Kaplan and this allows us to see when we should be completing assignments, attending college and sitting exams etc. This sort of structure allows us to balance our client work as well as our formal learning in a way that best suits us.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • There is a vast maount of support available from the training provider. There is an assessor available at all times to be contacted should there be an issue as well as a variety of resources at our disposal.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • The employer provides a large amount of support as previosuly mentioned. This is in the form of online tools, formal training, E-learning etc. There is also the day to day support of the team and office support staff asa whole.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • The salary is suited well to the costs. There is a season ticket loan available which has allowed me to purchase a yearly season ticket, with monthly installments taken from my pay packet. Working in London the salary is london weighted and therefore takes into account the extra costs of living/working/travelling in and around London.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • There are a variety of opportunities available outside of work. There are a number of social groups within the firm that you can join from religious groups to sports teams. This creates a good sense of community within the team and the firm.

  • Yes
