  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • During my time at Mott MacDonald, I have been included in many different types of opportunities, from helping with drawing production, issuing of documents and managing workflow. My day-to-day consist of coordinating with other members of the project and working towards project milestones. These can include research into the project area, 2D and 3D drawings and input into various different reports

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have been able to build my time management skills. Working on a few different projects at one time allows you to prioritise and section out parts of your day to certain projects. This has allowed me to improve how I use my time effectively during work and outside

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I have thoroughly enjoyed this programme so far. The team is welcoming and they are encouraging when helping to find new work to do. The programme has tested my existing skills and introduced me to new ones. One which have really helped develop and improve on the way that I work on projects

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I believe the structure is well laid out. The programme is structured so that we build our skills in the most effective way. Organisation has also been good. Modules, courses and assignments have been introduced when relevant and not when workload is already overloaded. I am happy with the programme.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Mott MacDonald have prided themselves in the support available, not just for apprentices but for all employers. Line managers are so very easy to talk to whether you have a change in work circumstances, or workload. They are very easy to talk and have made it clear that there are no silly questions

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • London SouthBank University are very good in providing support. particularly when it came to end of semester/year exams. Module leaders and lecturers are very easy to talk to and easy to understand. The support the apprentice gain has helped us achieve higher in our education and improved our results when it comes to assignments

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I think that is has helped massively. The material we have been learning from the beginning has been relevant in my work. It has been very well structured as to where the content we learn is directly applicable at the time we are learning and using it. It has been cleverly planned!

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are many extra curricular activities to be involved in and also many events to attend. This includes Early Career events to diversity events. These events have allowed me to network with other apprentices in the company around the UK. As summer is approaching, there are sports day events to get involved with your team

  • 9a. Would you recommend Mott MacDonald to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Mott MacDonald has been very welcoming since starting out as an apprentice. They pride themselves in the support network they have and they have stuck to that. The support that you receive is endless especially as working and studying can be quite full on and they allow you time to focus on your qualifications but provide massive opportunities to improve your experience as that is what an apprenticeship is for.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Mott MacDonald?
  • To find out your strengths and showcase that when applying. Passion is the main key and proving that through your application and interview is vital but also relating this back to the field and role you are applying to. As an apprenticeship, Mott MacDonald will not expect you to know everything from the beginning so showcasing the passion you have for the industry and the passion to learn is what they will want to see
