Job Description

We manage and deliver designs for major below ground civil projects and are recognised as authoritative and innovative in ground engineering. We specialise in all aspects of foundations, geotechnics, and tunnelling, and contribute to some of the largest and most demanding structures in the world. These projects range from Crossrail in London, East London Line, Victoria Station Upgrade, Budapest Metro, Dublin Interconnector, TfL tunnels refurbishment to name a few.

Areas of expertise include value management and value engineering, geotechnical advice, geotechnical information management, site investigation, rock engineering, slope engineering, coastal engineering, and environmental geotechnics. Supporting our civil design capability, we have specialist engineering geology, numerical modelling, seismic and hydrogeology expertise.

In this role you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation and supervision of ground investigations.
  • Collect geotechnical data and observations through site visits and fieldwork.
  • Interpret geotechnical data to create and develop ground models for use in engineering design.
  • Undertake geotechnical modelling and analysis using a suite of geotechnical software.
  • Assist in the production of geotechnical reports and drawings.

To be eligible for this opportunity, you will have a 2:1 (hons) undergraduate degree in a relevant subject to apply, applicants with a bachelor degree with a 2:2 (hons) with significant relevant professional experience in geology/engineering geology will be considered on an individual basis.

Travelling within the working day may be required occasionally, which will be on top of any travel required as part of your apprenticeship studies.

In your application you should be able to demonstrate your interest in the role and working at Mott MacDonald through relevant experience, such as studying relevant modules, or previous work experience.

We are looking for graduates with the following characteristics:

  • Methodical approach to problem solving.
  • Ability to use your initiative to undertake tasks efficiently and independently.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills, which allow you to confidently liaise with clients and team members.
  • Excellent written communication and attention to detail and be able to demonstrate accurate technical drawings and good report writing.
