  • General maintenance within train depots and stations.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Progress has been slow with many delays and waiting around within my first year. However things are picking up and I am learning new skills such as installing new electrical and mechanical equipment.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I did not enjoy my scheme when I first started but as the role progressed I started to enjoy it more and more.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • My 2nd year has been organized well as I have had the opportunity to go on different placements within the company. This allowed me to learn new skills and meet new people.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My employer supports me a lot. Whenever I have an issue my managers address it. We have regular meetings to discuss how things are going which helps mentally as sometimes things can be stressful.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • My training provider are great at helping when I need it and making sure I get work done to the required deadlines.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • My qualification gives me a better understanding of the theory elements that apply to my role. For example how certain pieces of equipment function and what to do when things go wrong.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • We have a graduate and apprentice committee GAC. This is where all apprentices and grads can network and attend social events together.

  • Yes

  • The company offers so much support for your development and progression.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Transport for London?
  • Be confident and always show interest in participating in tasks. Always ask questions.
