  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • During the Apprenticeship we have a brilliant opportunity to understand what we enjoy by rotating to different business rotations within the Supply Chain. Our opportunity allows us to develop our project management skills on a day to day basis whilst building a strong network within the business. Roles have strong variety from desk base to managing a team on the shop floor. GE's Supply Chain Business Degree Apprentice is the perfect opportunity to determine where you want to start a career.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Through having the ability to rotate within the business we are constantly developing different skills every 6 months for 3 years. Moving from desk roles where you are learning and developing long term solutions in order to improve business performance. Then to being on the shop floor where you understand how to manage a team, fire fight day to day problems and ensuring the business performs..

  • I am currently in the 10th Cohort on the scheme and therefore the scheme has been running for 10 years. As the scheme has been running for over 10 years the whole business has an understanding of the importance of the need to develop apprentices and understand the difference they can make within a team.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • We have an individual Manager who supports the scheme and he has done a brilliant job supporting the apprentices on site. He understands the value we add to site and gives the opportunity and tools we need in order to resolve any issues we have. The business as a whole also has a very good understanding of how we add value to the business.
