  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • On a day to day basis as an apprentice we will inspect, repair and overhaul aircraft engines such as the CFM56-5B and CFM56-7B, along with the GE90. Depending on which section you work on depends on what variety of jobs you may complete from day to day. For example, on Bulk Strip you will be stripping the engines into its major modules depending on the customers requirements. This way then be sent to detail strip where modules are dissembled into individual components. This will then go through various other sections throughout the factory

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I feel as if the qualifications I have achieved so far have allowed me to gain a small understanding and basic knowledge of my job role. However, i feel as if this should be refined so the course and qualification is more focused on the role. At this point in time, I feel as if the course I am currently completing is generic and focuses on a wide range of electrical engineering job roles, rather being specific to the role I am working.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are various networking events which apprentices can be involved in within the business. On the otherhand, I am unsure if you are able to join sports teams at GE. This would be something that i would be interested in, but I don't think is available.
