  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role as an electrical aircraft engineer involves a large variety of different tasks, it all depends on the section that I am on, there are 6 different sections in total that electrical aircraft engineers can go to they could be building one of the 2 types of engine we have in, it could be stripping the engines we have in or it could be inspecting and repairing the different types of harnesses that comes off the engine

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I have a genuine passion for aviation as a whole and the opportunity to work on them is a dream job of mine, especially being able to work on the worlds largest and most powerful jet engine ever built I could not be happier to come to work when it’s busy

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • When I was first employed the apprenticeship program has absolutely no structure to it, there was no communication between our manager and us therefore leading to a lot of problems, but since then we have had a new apprentice manager and he has excelled in restructuring the program to ensure that apprentices have the best opportunities possible.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • In my opinion our training providers give us an ok amount of support it personally isn’t the greatest, feedback is always unclear and hard to understand therefore leading to a miscommunication between them and myself, I think there could be a lot more done on there side to allow for better communication

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I am extremely certain that my qualification allows me to carry out my role more effectively and efficiently because the work we carry out is specialist work which can only be completed to a safe airworthy standard by people who have gone through the correct extensive training and assessments otherwise it could be dangerous
