  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role includes carrying out jobs on the tools and writing about them so proof I acknowledge the work and also showing a positive attitude throughout everything I do in work. Day to day this involves me engaging with my mentors who will teach me how to carry out a range of different jobs within the factory. My responsibilities are simple but very important, they can include turning up to work on time, abiding by all health and safety regulations and ensuring to sign in and out of work everyday.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Yes! I have become much more confident with practical tasks within the workshop such as using hand tools especially power driven tools. I have developed my presentation skills and management skills due to being given the opportunity to carry out an ILM course.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I feel there is still improvements to be made regarding the NVQ qualification we carry out, especially involving the introduction we get. There was no classroom meeting about how our NVQ folder should be set out it was just given to us and we had to ask others around the factory how we go about setting up our folders and carrying out the paperwork. Sometimes the generous help from others was not always right. Hopefully this is something the new training department can improve on.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I feel the BTEC Level 3 qualification we carried out in college was very important and it gave us relevant knowledge to progress when we came up the factory to work. On the other hand I feel there is too much paperwork involved with carrying out the NVQ qualification.
