  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • At the start of the day, I will be briefed in the morning by the team leader of jobs which had been done on the previous shift and I will be assigned to a maintenance team for the day. Once I know who I will be working with, I will assist them with their assigned job or any upcoming jobs or any breakdowns they attend.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy my programme to a very large extent as i have had the opportunity to work with a variety of tools, machinery and people which has allowed me to have a varied and always changing work environment. I also enjoy my programme due to the positive attitude towards my programme in most of the areas I have worked in.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I believe my programme is well organised. This is because I have been able to work at other sites from where I am based normally. The transition from my regular place of work to my new one has been very smooth and well catered. So far it has run like clockwork.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I receive a lot of support when working towards my qualifications. We have our training providers work emails and phone numbers so that we are able to reach them whenever we have trouble working towards our qualifications. Also, when it is a college day, our training providers are in the same building, allowing us to ask questions or seek support with our qualification.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I feel that my qualification provided by our training provider helps me perform better in my role to a certain extent. This is because most of the qualifications are now theory based, therefore, although the theory side of the qualification is very important to our programme, it can sometimes feel more like a burden/hinderance to my performance in my role rather than something that will help.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • At my work there are many extra-curricular activities such as the newsletter team which report on the happenings at BMW and also the personal lives of its employees. There is also a charity team which hosts social meetings and events to raise money for charity. However, I feel there are no sports activities to get involved in at work.

  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I would recommend BMW group to a friend because they make an effort to ensure you are comfortable at work, for instance, we have been provided with laptops, new uniform, PPE and and additional clothing such as overalls. We also have the ability to access a company car scheme to obtain WTA and use to book off days and be part of a worldwide organisation with almost limitless opportunities to learn and build a network.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BMW Group?
  • Some tips I would give to individuals applying to BMW group would be to 1) do not be afraid to be yourself, 2) Always take opportunities to learn and 3) Respect others. Some advice I would give is not everyone will agree with your opinions or work style, this does not mean they do not like you and it is not a personal attack.
