  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Gathering Raw data from applications, utilising excel to accumulate the data in statistical values and being able to create a report for managers to review and provide feedback on, to support my team in highlighting any potential issues which may be found in the data

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Experience of use in new applications in which I've not came across before, deepen my understanding of what data analysts do and how they help managers / the business make meaningful decisions

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • The programme has been greatly fulfilling, I'm feeling really motivated with the team I'm in and the business in general, I've been encouraged to do the best I can and it's made me feel positive about myself

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The first month was a introduction month, really helped ease everyone into the business developed personal skills and built confidence. Though out the programme there's been monthly support sessions which we use to highlight any issues and I feel comfortable to discuss issues in 1-2-1 environment too

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Employer has been totally supportive, been able to do catch ups and 1-2-1's with positive or constructive feedback, they also ensure that I have ample time to focus on study. In general they have been very inspiring and motivational

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • The training provider has had weekly online tuition and has been focused on developing out understanding of data, ethics and the law. While I would prefer in person tuition they have been supportive

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I've notice improvements in my understanding of data while working on the job it's helps me think ethically about the data and who it if may affect, also give me the opportunity to ask why a task is done one way and not another

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • The business is very focused around volunteering to help the community around them and the early talent team has asked that the apprentices help go out to fairs to spread the word about apprenticeships and our experiance

  • 9a. Would you recommend Newcastle Building Society to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • They look after the customer, their employees and also the community around them, they have big dreams for the future and aim to deliver the best. For me personally a came from a period where I was not motivated and nervous about a new environment. Now I feel really positive


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Newcastle Building Society?
  • Be yourself but challenge yourself too, step into new waters, it might be a deep end but the support is truly there to help you and you'll come out a better person
