  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role is to manage the end-to-end recruitment process for allocated geographical regions across the UK and IRELAND along with also recruiting for two functions within our head office. This process involves taking briefs from stakeholders, advertising roles and shortlisting candidates ready for interview. Arranging interviews with area managers and completing offers.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • During my time at Poundland, I have completed multiple learning programmes to develop my skills such as providing effective feedback, having difficult conversations and building resilience. My day-to-day role has taught me that adapting to the external market is crucial and changing my ways of working regularly will help with keeping my skills gaps to a minimum.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy the satisfaction that my apprenticeship gives me. The programme pushes me in ways that at first can feel a little overwhelming but the support that is given from our apprenticeship manager and the coaches at Lifetime really help me understand what is needed and what approach to take, once i had submitted my first assignment i felt a huge sense of fulfilment in my ability to complete the course.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • There are elements of the programme that seem unusual as far as the process goes, but this is an element that is down to the learning provider. When I feel that there is an issue, I am able to approach my apprenticeship manager who always helps come to a solution or to help me understand the structure. Overall, the course feels very easy to complete and to navigate my way around.
