  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role being an apprentice involves being with the other engineers and carrying out tasks which involves maintaining the site/building and also installing new equipment which can be lighting and various other things and then if something breaks or has a problem we check it out and react to it which means fix or repair if possible and get a contractor out if necessary and we have to do flushings, water test and fire alarm test also during the week.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt many skills which various from being able to fit an emergency light and how to do it safely which involves using the lock off tag off method on the breaker at the source of power. Other skills I have learned is how to change sockets and use a wider range of tools to a more skilful level and have also learnt how to do water test, fire alarm test and replaced pumps, and motors

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I would say I enjoy my apprenticeship to a high degree as with cbre multiple sites can be visited which provides a great learning experience and the support they provide if necessary is good and the way they welcome you when starting is great also another thing that is good is that you can learn from multiple engineers as they have them on site and can see and experience quite a lot on one site

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I would say that the structure of the programme is good same as the organisation of it due to the company taking pride in their apprenticeship schemes as they aim to take on lots of people for these and train them up to a high standard so the structure has to be good and organised to work well.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I would say I have received good support from my employer her being on site and available means I can ask her anything and gain the support necessary, reviews are done every so often to also see how I’m getting on this then determines if something needs to be done however I can ask my employer and feel comfortable doing so which means the support they provide is good.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • We have an assessor and apprenticeship coordinator who we can speak to if support is necessary and checks and reports are done often to make sure we are getting on also our lectures provide good support when doing assignments as they create help sheets for us so we can use them to complete qualifications.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I believe it helps me perform quite a lot more as I then know more about it to do it better and also know more about other subjects which can help about having a general knowledge when being a engineer as this helps when fixing anything as it helps create a engineer mindset and allows for ideas to come apparent on how to fix stuff

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Networking events are held quite a lot within the company and are accessible online or in person if you are local and social activities are done within our team every so often to stay sociable and gets the team out doing activities also sports are and have been held and this happens when arranged and planned

  • 9a. Would you recommend CBRE to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • I would recommend them as they provide a good learning experience and allow for young people to become skilled at what they enjoy and be paid to do so they also have many benefits which involves expense system being used to pay for work stuff and good PPE and tools are provided also the support provided is good.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to CBRE?
  • I would say to be confident and show them you want to learn and why you would like to work for their company and what you desire which is to learn and this shows them motivation to learn and wanting to learn and gain a career with a good company.
