  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I am an apprentice maintenance engineer. In my second year of the apprenticeship. Day to day I will be assigned daily PPM's. Which could be plant checks that are to be performed based on the set schedule. There is also reactionary maintenance which can include fixing anything that breaks on site.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • the program is split into 4 years which include college and work based learning. The first year of the course was fulltime at college this was a unique but interesting way to build up a base knowledge. The second year is mainly working based with day release college for the written learning.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • In the first year I received a good amount of support being that I was there fulltime. however I did inform them of my ADHD diagnosis to which I haven't received any support but luckily I have thus been able to cope with the work. so in that aspect it could be better.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I feel like the training is good and it is good to know these things but for my role specifically which is maintenance in FM. The training isn't that relevant as on my site I don't get to use for example any electric knowledge. as most of that kind of work is carried out by contractors.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • on my site im not aware of any that are available and i am sure that there are lots available in cbre internally but I have yet to be involved or have a look for any activities. But that is mainly due to me being pretty busy outside of work socially.

  • 9a. Would you recommend CBRE to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Its overal a good company to work for and offers many different options in terms of work thats available. they are also known to give opportunities to those who work hard which is important. My line manager as well is very good and experienced so is good to learn from.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to CBRE?
  • Be open. Be honest and work hard. do this and im sure you will succeed in life. and also dont under estimate the prevalence of people skills in the work place as if people like you. you are more likely to progress further in general. nothing else apart from that
