  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • When i was an apprentice my main role was to support my Line manager with project management tasks, this ranged from preparing procurement documents to creating in depth reports to show senior team members.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I learnt plenty of new skills and built a foundation of project management techniques i use on a day to day basis now i have qualified. The foundations i built have enabled me to become a strong PM who runs his own projects

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I loved my apprenticeship with HS2, i was given so much advice and so many colleagues spent time with me to develop my knowledge and encourage my career path

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • HS2 bases its apprenticeships on placement opportunities to ensure that their apprentices get full visibility of the business, this enables us all to have a full breadth of knowledge on many different areas within the business

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • The support is never ending really. If i ever needed someone they were there for me, whether it was work related or personal issues at home, HS2 talent team supported my throughout my 2 year apprenticeship.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • NCATI was a great college and even though i changed mentor half way through my course the college offered full support throughout and exam revision was critical to completion of my apprenticeship.

  • 10/10

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

  • 9a. Would you recommend Hs2 to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • Because the project is incredible, the scale of it is astonishing and working as an apprentice here means you are set for real life work.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Hs2?
  • Be yourself, ask questions, be kind, be respectful and most of all... Enjoy it
