  • Providing design inspiration, ideas and support. Recommending the right products and services to suit the customers’ needs and talking through options such as finance and installation. Working closely with colleagues, installers and other service providers to coordinate the customers’ dream project.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I am on a Stepping up to Team Leader course alongside my Lvl 3 Apprenticeship so that I can take a higher role, learning everything needed to be a manager. I am also Peoples Forum Rep as well as first aid and fire marshal trained.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • It's good to learn all new terminology and how to talk to customers & other staff members and have the knowledge to solve issues or complaints.

  • It's good I think the Off the Job training could be better if it was done a different way.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • It's improving now that I know we have an apprenticeship ambassador who is starting to work with us to make sure we have time each week to work on it

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Lots, she has good knowledge and can put things into terms that I would understand, making a lot of the modules clearer for me to complete. We discuss which areas I might need to improve and what my focus should be on

  • It gives me a better look at solving issues and the terminology I can use which looks better to customers

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • No. I have suggested in summer we have a rounders game but theres never enough time. Every now and then we have a night out

  • Yes

  • It's a good place to work with plenty of opportunities to grow


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to B&Q?
  • If you do want to grow within the business, develop a good relationship with the trading managers and the unit manager as they will all help you and provide you with the knowledge you need to grow and put you on the relevant courses
