  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I work on the self service checkouts. I assist customers in making purchases, asking them if they have a club card and telling them the benefits of a club card . I also serve customers who wish to return items as they have to be processed on a specific cash till.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • As I had not worked in a retail environment before, all the skills I now have have been learned in the last two years. I have learnt how to use scanning barcode equipment, how to operate a till, how to process gift cards and how to handle cash.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • Although I struggled at the start, I soon got to grips with the programme. So I am enjoying the programme as it makes me think of different aspects of customer service.

  • The programme is well structured. The online system is easy to navigate. There are regular review meetings.

  • The support from my employer is available, but due to the the work load, it is somewhat difficult to get the support needed.

  • This is excellent as I have regular meetings.

  • It makes me more conscious of how I deal with customers!

  • There are non that I am aware of.

  • Yes

  • It is a friendly place to work and the pay is of an acceptable amount, with a generous holiday package.

  • Be prepared to work hard.
