  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Completing general administrator tasks for the branch. This would include filing, booking goods in, checking delivery dates on purchase orders, ensuring invoices are processed correctly. Working alongside other colleagues in order to ensure that goods are booked in correctly and asking transport for the delivery dates that orders can be delivered to change dates on tickets.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have developed on my skills of using spreadsheets in order to analyse data from the system to support my role and working along side my colleagues in order to support the functions of the branch. My organisational skills have improved as I ensure that my work is completed on time and deadlines are met.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I have enjoyed my programme as I have learnt more about the business and how I interact with stakeholders to support the function of the branch. The programme has allowed me to explore other areas of the branch that I have now taken on as part of my role which includes ordering stock and creating purchase orders.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme is well organised and have loads of support from the coach of the sessions. The programme is more about the learning the business and looking into how my current role of a branch administrator to support the functions of the branch by looking into processing invoices, coaching others in using ICT programmes. To not only benefit me but my other colleagues.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My employer has supported me the whole way through the course as best as they can and have provided me with all the time to be able to complete the programme. This has meant that I haven't felt stressed over achieving deadlines for the programme and all modules have been met.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • My training provider runs sessions that provide us with all the information that we need in order to be able to complete each module and is there to support if we get stuck. All of the sessions have been clear and allowed me to understand how I am able to achieve each standard. This support has allowed me to be able to stay on track and complete me work to the deadlines.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • It has provided me with new opportunities within the branch and taken on new areas as part of my job role which include ordering of stock and creating purchase orders which has better supported my team. I am able to work with my team to ensure that the branch is able to function.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Yes, there is volunteering events for prostate cancer that colleagues can get involved in. There is also support for younger colleagues within the industry as it appears that the younger youth are generally not attracted to the industry and the company recognises this and people can sign up to support the team.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • Because of there values and the way in which they support all colleagues as they realise that investing in their staff will make a return back into the company. The value we care supports the company in supporting colleagues in order for all collages to be the best they can be.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Travis Perkins Plc?
  • Take the leap as you will be supported in any direction of the company that you choose to go down there is something for everyone and your career direction may change as you figure out the path in which best suits you to work within the company. You are supported the whole way through.
