My over role in the depot is to overlook and manage the sales within my depot. This includes managing customer accounts, setting up special price agreements, quote management, creating new accounts and managing my team. This overall should help us hit our targets and KRA's and ensure people get a bonus at the end of the year.
I would say there has been 2 main skills I have learnt. The first was learning about myself, I do truly believe you can't get to truly learn what other people are like and the way they thing until you have a good look at yourself. The other was time management, I now have the ability to get the most out of my day, while still getting everything done.
For the most part I enjoyed it. The programme itself was fine, my tutor and the people on my course were all treasures that made it very easy when doing tasks in teams. The only real problem I had was due to how busy we were in the work place, I had to do a lot of work at home and this cut into family time.
I thought it was well structured as it was a good mix of joining up to meetings each month, where we had to listen but were also encouraged to take part; team building and also going off by yourself to research. Also If I had any questions on what I needed to do, my tutor [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyApprenticeship Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] was always on hand to answer them.
My Tutor/Mentor was very helpful. She presented the monthly meetings well and was available to answer any questions I had and it clearly paid off as I passed with a distinction. I could of done with more help from my manager, I felt at times I was on my own doing the course and I had to go to him, asking questions and it would be put off from time to time.
My Tutor/Mentor was very helpful. She presented the monthly meetings well and was available to answer any questions I had and it clearly paid off as I passed with a distinction. It especially helped when doing the mocks for my final assessment, we were in contact quite a bit before my topic came through and she put me at ease.
It does help in my day to day role. By learning how to manage my time properly, I am able to do my day to day tasks but it also allows me to have time to pass on my knowledge to the less experienced members off staff and train them up into the performing team we are working towards.
Since arriving at my new depot (2 months ago), there seems to be a lot more team building going on than at my previous one. We are all going out at the weekend and it would be good to get to know people outside of the workplace, as people can be completely different.
Yes
It's a good company to work for that follows through with what they say they are going. I worked for a previous company that was trying to put me through a similar course, it took them ages to put me on it and then they took away the funding after 4 months; so it was a waste of time. Keyline on the other hand have put my on the course, as soon as I asked and then supported my throughout.
My advice would be just to apply for one. It helps you learn about yourself and others, as well as improving whatever role you are currently in (or want to get into). It's also free, all paid for by the company, so you are getting paid, for a qualification, that you can do during work hours!
