  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • As a trade counter customer advisor, my role largely consists of forming strong realtionship with trades people. I achieve this by being efficent. Serving, placing orders, stock control are some of the things a typical day has for myself.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • In a whole? Probably not learnt any NEW skills, i have however brushed upon knowledge when it comes to the enviroment, rules and regulations etc.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoyed my program overall, this was mostly due to my learning provider who was very supportive and always at hand to help me, this doesn't seem to always be the case so I consider myself lucky.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I found the program to be very oragnised, I knew when my meetings were, when my deadlines were etc. Again, this is only due to my learning provider being excellent at being organised with their work and students.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • At the start of the program, not a huge amount. I was left to my own to delicate hours away from the shop floor to complete work. Towards the end, new management were better on this.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • 100% support from my training provider on this end, never felt in the dark or totally lost. Was very patient when I didn't understand modules and even booked extra meetings for me as and when needed.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • Overall, I wouldn't say I'm massively better at my role. There is an improvement, but nothing ground braking in my opinion. However, it is always hard to evulate one's self so perhaps there's more then I've noticed.

    6/10

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Nothing, this is the one aspect I feel my place of work could improve on massively.

    2/10

  • 9a. Would you recommend B&Q to a friend?
  • No

  • 9b. Why?
  • It's hard to say in 50 words. It depends what you're looking for, if you just want to do a 9-5 and not think about it when you're home-B&Q can be that. However if you want a career, you'll be here forever to see benifits.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to B&Q?
  • Think about what you need, if you want a consisent job with overtime then apply. If you wan't to gain promotions and build the ladder, you better be ready to commit years of your life. And I'm talking 10+ for anything serious like manager. 6/10 overall.
