  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I work in as a marketing executive in the Operations and planning side. I create and review marketing processes, I manage the MarTech and support my line manager in terms of strategy and planning. I also work as support in regards to managing budget and tracking of POs across the team.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • My apprenticeship is 20% of my time alongside my regular executive role. I don't have any official marketing qualifications so I am learning a lot. It gives a lot of clarification as to what my regular team discusses when we have meetings and makes request. It is like a light bulb moment. Marketing is very complex and this course helps me understand the in depth ins and outs of marketing whilst actively applying it to my role. They make it happen in such an engaging way too.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I had one of the best sessions in my apprenticeship recently. The tutors are so energetic and engaging and supportive. I have never been in such a positive studying environment before! It really boosts your confidence and makes you feel confident when having to present. The E-learning is also really interesting as I can work at my own pace.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Yeah everything is mapped out righ to the end of the programme so I could work through the whole programme if i wanted to. Everything is made to work at your pace as you go through work. You know when the meetings are and when assignments and e-learnings are due. Biggest thing is just trying to balance it when you have so much work going on, but they are very understanding that our regular day jobs are demanding.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Well as this is a 20% apprenticeship and 80% regular day job I have of course the support of my day Job from my manager and HR. I get regular check ins to see how it is all working, but then of course Professional Academy always state that if we need any support we can reach out. Which is really appreciated.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • We have multiple tutors and then a main provider who reaches out to us and gets feedback from our various tutors. All in all i have not had to reach out to her yet, but she is always keeping us informed about any changes and such. All very early days in regards to my apprenticeship, however there is so much support offered I know where to go when I need it.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I know directly it will help me better to preform in my role as it already actively has. I have to apply everything back to my role and company so it is so actively entwined with my role there is no doubt. It can be a bit harder as i working in Operations and Planning, but as I am looking to eventually transfer to generalised marketing exec role this allows me to be more practical.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • In my apprenticeship there isn't any team building type of activities as it is not part of my regular job. This is mainly facilitated over teams so there is no particular institute for us to head to just for our apprenticeship I believe. This allows people across England to participate in the apprenticeship rather than just local. In my personal company it allows me to have these networking opportunities

  • 9a. Would you recommend CityFibre to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • CityFibre pushed my development desires as soon as I joined the company in 2021 to then start my apprenticeship early 2022. In regards to Cambridge professional academy I would highly recommend them! They have been amazing with my sessions, and understanding the learning and work life balance! Couldn't recommend them enough.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to CityFibre?
  • Applying for Professional Academy through your role is super simple. Just reach out to your learning and development facilitators and they can support your application. It is just a matter of a few forms and GCSE and highest level of education certificates and you are good to go. There is no faffing around.
