  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Yes, I’ve definitely learnt how to develop skills that I already had, but was required to finely tune them in order to do my job better. For example learn to ‘read’ the guest to know whether they would like to use our recommendations or whether they wanted to be left to their own devices.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I am really enjoying my programme. My trainer is very friendly and engaging and I look forward to our meetings. The course has also given my work more meaning to me and I feel as though i have a reason for doing some of the menial tasks. I can also pass this enthusiasm onto others

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme I am undertaking is very well structured. I am given clear guidelines on what is expected of me for each module and am able to print out all the relevant information. My tutor is always available if I feel that there is anything I haven’t understood or need assistance with.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My employer is very supportive of my apprenticeship. I am given support for my off the job trading and am regularly asked for updates into how I am progressing. My employer always tries hard to deliver any information my tutor requires of them in a timely manner too, so overall very positive

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • My training provider has been greatly supportive. My tutor has always been on hand when required and should I have any difficulties I have no problem with informing him and am confident that he will support me in overcoming my concerns. He will point me in the right direction to be able to solve any problem I have.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I definitely agree that it helps me perform better in my role. I feel that I have more insight into what our guests are looking for and the reasons we go to the lengths we do. I feel more motivated to go the extra mile for our guests since starting my course.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • We sometimes have extra curricular activities within our team although these are few and far between at the moment due to short staffing in the hospitality industry at present. We feel it is important to do things together out of work to help us bond as a team when we are able.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Mitchells & Butlers to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I would definitely recommend mitchells and butlers to a friend for a variety of reasons. The team I work within are very supportive on the whole. They really try to give their employees a work/ life balance and I also feel that the apprenticeships available are well worth entering into.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Mitchells & Butlers?
  • I would advise to be yourself, always try to create a friendly environment for your guests and show empathy towards them. Always treat your fellow team members the way you would expect to be treated and to stay calm under pressure. I’d also advise to complete an apprenticeship if given the opportunity
