  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I improve the recruitment capability of our 1600 general managers, driving the overall recruitment agenda through direct communication, upskilling and guidance. Every day is different, however I manage our District Recruitment Ambassadors, frontline facing recruitment tools, and work on projects to improve overall recruitment across the company.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy the workshops, I find them engaging even though they are online. I find the tasks on Bud to be overwhelming sometimes and overall it can be difficult to balance with my workload. I have found I need to dedicate more than the allocated 6 hours, which is frustrating. I would have liked to hear from someone who had done it before, to get a sense of what was to come.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme was well organised at the start, however I have had a number of tutors which made keeping on top of the tasks a challenge. I now have an excellent tutor, so can see how it was meant to run from the start. The workshops and CIPD assignments have been well set out from the start.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My line manager has been very supportive and has helped me wherever she can to get through the tasks. She has given me the allocated time and encouraged me to protect it every week, so I can keep on top of the tasks.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • As previously mentioned, I have had three tutors throughout my apprenticeship which has meant that the support has not always been consistent. However, the tutor I have now has been very supportive and has gone above and beyond to help me. The support I receive for the CIPD assignments is great, the workshops and supporting documents are always perfectly linked to what I have to do.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The qualification has definitely helped me perform better, I have a more well rounded view of HR and understand legislation better, This has helped me make better decisions and contributions. I have also been able to better collaborate with other teams, creating stronger working relationships.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are countless activities to get involved in at M&B. There are socials in the office every payday, summer and Christmas socials, networking opportunities and groups to join. There is a knitting group, different sports, D&I groups and development groups. There has recently been a couple of networking events for international women's day.
