  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Operations of administration for Investigations. Supporting team by reducing their work loads. Creating and monitoring Excel Spreadsheets, Writing minutes, allocating cases to investigators and ombudsman which gives me full control over our case queues.

  • enhanced skills in the use of excel and other Microsoft Office platforms, Learnt skills on the Phoenix softwear, Verbal and written communication has been developed.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoyed the support from my managers in my work role, However i felt there was a lack of support from the training providers. Although there were monthly catch-ups, I feel there should be someone who is a point of contact within the organisation.

  • Structured in the sense we are well aware ahead of time of the catch up meetings. However I feel the trainer does not have much flexibility to work around our schedules.

  • Immense support from many people at multiple levels.

  • There was a lack of flexibility.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I don't feel there is much correlation between the apprenticeship and the job role. Also the apprenticeship has helped with interpersonal skills

  • Yes there are many social networks you can join such as Religious or sport networks.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • The Financial Ombudsman Service take pride in their staff and are always understanding of different circumstances of different people. They provide a huge amount of support to the employees.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Financial Ombudsman Service?
  • I would suggest you make connections with as many people you within your team as well as other departments.
