  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My tasks are massively varied; some days I will be taking notes on client calls, drafting emails to clients, onboarding clients onto our systems, writing letters to clients or to HMRC for clients, drafting tax computations for clients and set up weekly calls with the entire team so that people are able to have catch ups.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have finished my AAT Level 3 qualification and almost finished AAT Level 4, once this is completed I will start ATT CTA. I have completed many training courses when I feel that there is something that I would benefit then I find some internal training and complete it. I believe I have massively developed my professional communication skills.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I am able to rotate every 6 months around the different departments which has meant that I have been able to find the team that I believe I truly fit in to. The culture is really good to encouraging people to develop their skills. I really enjoy the freedom and the ability to rotate around the business.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I do not believe that the training provider is that well organised as tuition materials on arrives a day or so before the tuition starts (if at all). As there is a lot of organisation when moving around the business, this has meant that it has not been the best. Also as I am only in teams for 6 months it means that it can be difficult getting work.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I get a good amount of support from my team when I am not sure what I am doing. If I ever have any questions then they are always willing to listen to what I have to say. They always reply to my emails and messages within a day which I have found very useful.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I believe that the level of support is okay from my tutor as even a few weeks after the tuition has been completed they are willing to answer questions. I do not massively enjoy the the tuition we receive as I believe it could be developed to realise that not everyone studies in the same way.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I believe that the qualifications helps me everyday as I am able to easier understand the tasks that I am being given as almost all of them have been related to the work that I have been doing. Often when looking at new tasks lots of the tax rules I have already been introduced to.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There is a Bristol office social event almost every month as well as team events that are also most months. We are able to get discounts on some gym memberships and we are often sent invitations to different sporting events in the firm that are taking place for example netball and cricket.

  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I believe that this is a good programme that really helps you to develop your career. There are lots of amazing opportunities that are open to you whilst working here and many other inspiring people that you meet day to day. There are lots of tasks that you are able to get involved in almost any tasks that you would like to do as long as you network and push to get there.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to KPMG?
  • I would say to be confident in yourself as there is a large variety of people that work at KPMG. Make sure that you ask lots of questions as that is a key skill that is required, it will also mean that you will be able to better understand the job role that you are applying for.
