  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I work as an audit associate in the audit department every day. In general, I conduct numerous testing tasks for our clients every day, including checking fixed asset balances, creditor and debtor balances, and tying cash balances to business bank records. I work with coworkers that are all different ages and backgrounds.

  • Yes, I have picked up a number of new talents since joining that I did not have previously. I built my technical expertise while working on the actual audit work that needs to be done, and I reinforced this with my undergraduate coursework. • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • It is extremely well organised, achieving a mix between office work, client visits, and the required college studies for a certificate. In order to finish all the required training, we have specified days for attending to college as well as days set out for training. In-house audit training and online study are both required to succeed.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Yes, there is a society for students of chartered accountants that organises activities, and every year there are get-togethers with the other apprentices from nearby businesses, which is a great way to reconnect and talk. There are also frequent, well-attended, free social events held in the neighbourhood office every few months.

  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • My time here at KPMG has been extremely fantastic thus far, therefore I would definitely recommend it to a friend. The college examinations can be challenging and difficult to pass, but there is a lot of help to get you through the hard times, so I feel like I have learned a lot and am supported in my role, which is crucial.
