  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I come to work and i would normally start the morning doing a wash and dress assessment, i double up with other members of staff for therapy and I may do a DADL assessment

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt a lot of new skills, i have learnt a lot about the anatomy and physiology of the body, tissue viability and a lot about myself and what I am capable of achieving.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I mostly enjoy the interaction and the workshops as you gain good perspective from other people that are on different or similar pathways. I have really enjoyed the getting back to study and education and expanding my knowledge.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I feel i have been extremely lucky with my assessor and the way it has been structured works well for me. I like to be organised and i feel that this programme keeps me organised as well.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Again I feel very lucky as my employer and manager have been extremely supportive and I have not had to struggle with anything, i can talk to them and they help with what ever i need.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • My assessor is amazing, she has supported me and gone above and beyond to help me achieve my qualifications. I have nothing but good things to say about her and i will actually miss talking to her once i have completed my programme.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I feel it helps give me the knowledge to support my actions whilst in on the ward and in my current role its given me so much confidence in what i do.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • We are quite a small team and we do organise a lot of get togethers, social events and activities. Last year we took part in the global step challenge as a team, and i recently was invited to the AHP support worker conference.

  • 9a. Would you recommend NHS to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • I feel its a good way to better yourself and knowledge and help further your career if that's intended.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to NHS?
  • Just to make sure you build a good working relationship with your assigned assessor and make sure you keep to the schedule.
