A typical day is doing adminstrative work for the specialist physiotherapist team, these tasks involve booking patient appts, and answering the phone regarding patient queries. It also involves completing tasks sent from the specialists and contacting external departments such as mri department, other hospitals and gps. We also prepare documents for sending patients to orthopaedics.
I have increased in phone confidence and also I am now confident in using my initiative and suggesting new ideas to the team which will benefit the team overall. I also work more indepentley and can get on with most tasks without help. I feel more confident overall and believe my skills have developed.
I enjoy my programme, I enjoy the variety where I work for one service 3 days a week and another service for one day and then I work at home and complete my college work one day a week I think this is a good balance and stops things becoming repetitive.
I believe it is well structured, I have a good structure to my working days , and I enjoy that I have a day solely dedicated to my apprenticeship which allows me to only focus on college work and get done any outstanding work that I have to do. I enjoy the variety rather than doing the same thing every day,
I receive lots of support, my colleagues are always there to train me and teach me new things to further my learning, If I ever dont understand anything I can call one of them and they will always be there and they have a good attitude in wanting to help me.
If I ever have any questions I can contact my trainer by email, where she replies very quickly and helps me with any queries, I also have alternative people to contact if she was not available. I recieve lots of support in our monthly catch ups where we discuss how im doing and she gives me guidance on what else I need to do.
I have learnt more about the business administration role overall, such as the professionalism and efficiency workshop which I think I can apply in to my day to day life. As well as contributing in the workshops it helps increase my confidence in my day to day role at work.
Yes, there are emails sent round a few days a week highlighting the virtual events which are going to be happening these involves, workshops, updates from the director of the trust, there is also exercise classes offered virtually due to zoom. They also do virtual events for the BAME minority group etc.
Yes
Solent is a good employer, they are considerate and supportive and are flexible. I am allowed enough time to complete all my apprentice work and If i needed more time then that would be possible, they help me with my apprenticeship where they can and have an active interest in it.
The application process is straight forward via nhs jobs website, make sure you talk about your skills and what you can bring to the team, in the interview be yourself and really sell yourself and what you are looking forward to, ask lots of questions to find out fully what you will be doing.
