  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Improved initative and willingness to suggest ways to improve the service. Able to multitask and work across a range of the service and provide help last minute when needed.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy my programme as I am able to do a variety of activities so it is not repetitive. I work across 3 different services so my time is split between the three so I am working with a range of different colleagues and it involves doing different things. I have more responsibility and have tasks that I have taken on myself.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • There is a good structure to my programme and daily tasks. It usually involves us answering the new patient phone calls in the morning and booking them in. In the afternoon it gets quieter so we can do tasks and manage waiting lists etc. On quieter days we ensure our diagnostic lists are up to date and that our clinics are prepped for the next week.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I always have a manager or supervisor around so I can ask them for help if I need and if theres something I do not know how to do, they will talk me through it and teach me. My colleagues are also very helpful and I can contact them easily by the phone or talking to them in person.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I have regular catch ups with my training provider via teams and also can contact them by email for any help I may need. They also provide regular feedback on my assignments and tell me what I need to improve on or what else I need to include in my assignment which is helpful.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • By attending the training workshops I learn new skills which I can apply in the work place. These include workshops such as assertiveness. I have used this skill when introducing a new process to the workplace and explained to my colleagues why I thought it was a good idea and how it would improve the service.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are sometimes social activities at the end of month when it is payday. There is also a summer activity and Christmas activity for all colleagues to get together. There is also the apprenticeship awards for staff to attend which is a nice way of appreciating apprentices and the work they have done.

  • 9a. Would you recommend NHS to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Work is easy enough to manage and does not interfere with work/social life. Good balance and good team to work with. You are able to get help for stuff that you are not sure on and can attend training to further your learning. Varied tasks to do and not too repetitive.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to NHS?
  • Make sure you mention the HEART values and how you currently relate to them and how you would implement them in the role as the HEART values are important to Solent NHS. Talk about your skills and how they would apply to the role and mention what you are keen to improve on and develop on.
