  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My day to day roles include inputting employee data and personal information as well as ensuring the data cleansing is kept up to dates to prevent mistakes being created within other NHS systems. I also complete standard administration tasks and responsibilities to work with other staff and teams who work for Solent.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have developed my communication and teamwork skills since beginning my employment with Solent, I have learned more advanced Excel programme skills which have allowed me to run reports with employee data to filter this information down. I have been trained on the formula functions on Excel to minimise the amount of time I spend on cleansing data.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I have enjoyed my programme and apprenticeship very much, it's been very different and a better, positive experience to my other apprenticeships I was unable to finish during the first period of COVID. I was unfortunately made redundant from one apprentice and didn't have the support in my other education, therefore this has been a much better learning system.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • This apprenticeship has been very organised especially since being a member of the NHS trust, it's allows me to work flexibly from home which has helps with my mental health and saving money on travel. I use To do lists to structure my work weekly, inputting deadlines and key aspects of my tasks I must complete.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • The Solent NHS Trust has supported me in many ways, including providing me with appropriate training and my weekly Off the Job hours for my apprenticeship. My line manager in my team has supported me through offering shadowing opportunities to build my apprenticeship hours up and to ensure I have the maximum amount of training for my job role.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I have regular weekly meetings with my college assessor where we discuss my tasks I need to complete and the work I had already completed. We also discuss my EPA project and some ideas I can bring into this EPA interview and portfolio at the end of my apprenticeship, later on this year.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I feel like my current training provider; Chichester College has ensured me to perform to my best as I don't have too much confidence in the work I complete sometimes, however my assessor always reminds me that my work is to a high standard and it's rare when I miss any aspects of the criteria.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • I don't currently complete any extra-curricular activities after work hours, but I just enjoy spending time with my partner and my family, seeing my siblings, nieces and nephews. I am just trying to save with my partner in order to purchase our first home within the next few years.

  • 9a. Would you recommend NHS to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I would suggest beginning employment within the Solent NHS Trust with an apprenticeship as it's a great way to start off in a well known, popular company. The trust includes a large number of groups who are all there to help you advance as a team and as an individual.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to NHS?
  • I would suggest ensuring you are applying for the correct role for yourself because as much as the Trust has the same roles within different teams, all those roles are different in their own ways. You would more specific and unique tasks to complete from being in a specific team.
