  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I provide quotations and secure orders placed by our customers to ensure they get the best rate and service this market can provide. I control all the customer hires from initial requests to the off-hire. I help with invoicing and account queries. I build up a working relationship with every customer.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt many new skills throughout the course, some I remember and some I don't however the skills I don't necessarily remember I know deep down I utilise these skills without even knowing it. Management can be difficult but, the skills I learnt over the last year or so, I will carry with me always.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I did thoroughly enjoy the apprenticeship however, there were times that the workload was a bit much for me to handle at times alongside my day to day work in the office. My mentor reassured me that this is normal and they helped me through it and made me understand that I was not the only one that goes through the same experience.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The course is well organised and structured, this I can say for certain. They organise it in such a way that you learn different areas of focus each month to allow you to learn different techniques throughout. Each module is different so you don't have to keep learning the same areas and this could get a tad boring, by doing this way keeps you focused.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I have all the support I could have ever asked for. Not only did I have my line manager on board I had the entire group. I have a private tutor given to me to help me through my Maths and English. I had my Mentor and even when one left another one come in and was second to none, she was amazing. The group helped me through it all!

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I received all the training I needed to ensure I got high marks. I never felt like I was being ignored and never felt like I could not get the support I needed. The accessibility of support was tenfold. I have a tutor inside and outside the program to help me.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The qualifications I have gained I feel will help me massively not only with the role I have now but any future roles that I may have presented to me in the future. The course I have done teaches you how to be prepared and I most definitely feel I am.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are extra-curricular activities to get involved in at my workplace however, it is not something I got involved in. I think having extra-curricular activities is a very good thing but, it is just not something I would personally put myself forward for. I would however encourage people who like this sort of thing to go for it!

  • 9a. Would you recommend Travis Perkins Plc to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Keyline is a great place to work. They look after their employees and customers. There are multiple platforms to build your carerar. Not only apprenticeships you can apply for but, your good work doesn't go unnoticed. You always have the help you need when you need it. I am staying put!

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Travis Perkins Plc?
  • Be yourself! There is nothing worse than trying to be someone you are not. Not only does it make it more difficult to adjust your ways when you start your new job but, it has an impact on your mental health. You need to make sure when you apply you are the same person in your interview and the person who hit the apply button.
