Yard worker - serve customers products outside and load their vehicles either by hand or via forklift. Also unload and load our lorries and suppliers that come into branch. I have recently been successful in a yard manager position also.
Yes, I have learned how to use a saw and cut timber. I have also learned how to use a tape measure and drive a forklift.
I would say at times I did not enjoy the apprenticeship, working in branch and trying to fit in an apprenticeship can be challenging. However my coach was really helpful and I made sure I asked for time to meet deadlines.
The programme is well organised and very clear of what to do. I would say that a lot of the modules I completed repeated themselves and I found myself writing the same thing over and over again. Other than that, really good experience.
Travis Perkins were very supportive through my apprenticeship, always praising me for completing modules and for completing my exams when they were taken, I do however think managers should be slightly more supportive in encouraging employees to complete their apprenticeship.
My mentor was absolutely amazing. [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyApprenticeship Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions], always made sure she would email you back as soon as she could if you needed help. She would give you a call or do one to ones with you. I learned a lot on my apprenticeship, especially with some materials within the branch. I had more knowledge of the company and products.
Their are teams you can join/become a part of. I am part of the South Wales and West Health and Safety group.

I love Travis. There are so many opportunities within Travis and so many different routes you can take in your career. I find the company very supportive of your career and you are part of their family. Excellent company :D
Be yourself.
