  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I work alongside the underwriting manager and assist in their day to day tasks. I am involved in carrying out regular reports which are supplied further up the business. I help with pricing of different insurance products and focus on gadget insurance. I have learned a lot of internal processes that are carried out to keep the business ticking. Aswell as interacting with colleagues to get support or provide help.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learned more excel skills along with personal skills about the business and a general working environment. I have learned a lot more about the insurance industry as a whole. I have developed skills that i can use in any job in the future which has really helped my progress.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I do enjoy being independent in the role i have but i would have liked more support with my day-to-day knowledge and growth. As i am fairly new to the business and industry i dont personally know what i need to learn so it would have been useful to be shown more regularly.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • It is organised and structured well enough to follow but could be more straightforward with deadlines and tasks to complete at different stages of the apprenticeship. More regular catch ups and reviews would have pushed me to progress better and faster. Although, it has gone really well up to now.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive support with tasks being carried out in the job regularly and am offered extra support or explanations if needed. Although when it comes to general insurance knowledge and skills i feel i am expected to know things but i am not experienced or qualified enough yet. I would have liked it to be more 50/50 with learning and actually doing the job as i feel that the job can get a lot to juggle at times and i feel i can be sucked in to not learning anything at all.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I receive enough to probably pass the qualifications but i feel as though personally i need extra support regularly to keep on top of my progress. Sometimes i feel panicked and not confident that i am progressing or learning so would have liked extra support to cope with this throughout.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • It does help a lot because i get an outside view of the job and industry rather than getting caught up in the businesses strategies and objectives. I can take what i learn from each side of the apprenticeship to compare and understand where things can be improved or work needs to be done.

    8/10

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are occasionally extra activities at my work but obviously has been hard to do much during the covid-19 pandemic. So i am sure as time goes on, more and more will be available and accessible to join in with and grow colleague relationships to help with ease and communication during work.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Davies Learning Solutions to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I believe that they gave me an amazing opportunity when i was at a struggle in my career and didnt really know what i wanted or had to do. They have helped grow me as a person and given me a platform to a solid career in the future which is what i needed.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Davies Learning Solutions?
  • The advice i would give is to stay involved and always ask for support if you need it because you may not think it is there or easy but is very accessible if you talk to the right people. Take in all the knowledge you can get and it will help you on your path to success in a career.
