  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role involves the following: recording fridge temperatures and food safety, preparation and service of food to customers, liaising with frobt of house in order to provide the best customer service possible, cleaning the kitchen in line with company standards, being punctual and ready to work on time, assisting the senior chefs when required

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Yes, I have drastically improved the ways that I work, as well as the ways I'm expected to work. Also, my overall cooking skills have massively improved thanks to the apprenticeship. I also feel like my confidence has grown, which can be seen in my working practices. My food presentation skills have also improved massively

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I greatly enjoy the progra more and would recommend it to anyone. The quality of teaching is excellent, and the amount of different areas of cooking that are explored has really opened my eyes to different areas. I now have knowledge and skills that I never thought I would have.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme was extremely well structured. From starting off with the basics of knife skills, to more advanced things like skinning rabbits and making advanced dishes. The course did get delayed because of the covid pandemic, but even with that the structure remained and I was able to pass the course with distinctions.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I have received a great level of support from my employer. From covering the costs of the course, to providing me with the access to tools that will aid my learning. I definitely wouldn't have been able to finish the course or do as well as I did without them.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • From having weekly training sessions, I was able to receive constant support from my training provider. The standard of teaching was excellent, and so in depth. The feedback that I received from my work also helped me to develop my skills by showing me what I could improve on in the future

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I feel like the qualification has given me more confidence, both within myself and my job role. This confidence will help me to work at a different level than what I was working at before the course, and will not only help me but also it will help the business too.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are further opportunities to do extra courses through work that will help to improve my skills eveb more, these can be done on fuse. There are also opportunities to go to new menu cook offs and general networking events if they are suitable for someone in my job role.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Fuller's to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • I feel like Fuller's is a great company to work for, who value their employees greatly. They provide ample opportunities for career development through a vast amount of courses. It also feels like a true working family, which has been passed through the pubs from fuller's being a family business.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Fuller's?
  • Find a job role that suits you. If you don't have the experience then training will be provided, especially in kitchens. Fullers are very passionate about creating the chefs of the future, so if a person wants to become a chef, then fullers is a great company to work for in that respect.
