I am a shift leader at the owl in hambleton, this involves taking care of front of house and back of house, I am capable to run shifts as manager on duty. I’m am to also ensure that the pub and facilities are presentable for the public who visit us
During my 2 years there I have learnt a lot of new skills, this involved different jobs as well, such as house keeping, pot washing etc. Within my apprenticeship also I have learnt lots within each module. It covers a wide range of subjects in detail therefore I am gaining plenty of knowledge.
My programme is very useful and helpful towards my job. My mentor is extremely nice and is always able to help me understand parts I’m not sure of and is very patient. It helps with my every day work shifts as well as I am learning and understanding more about the business as a whole.
My programme is very well organised as each session me and my mentor set goals and targets, this helps me to get the right amount of work done in a good amount of time. My life website also which is apart of the apprenticeship is very useful and very well structured so I can find everything and all the information I am looking for.
My employer is supportive as she regularly checks with me how my apprenticeship is going and also she is supportive with every other staff member. She will listen to any problems someone might have and try help and be supportive in which every way is possible. She is also very welcoming.
I receive lots of support from my training provider as she is able to answer all questions I have and she also allows me time within a subject if I am struggling. She ensures that I fully understand each module and subject and is very supportive even when I am struggling.
I definitely feel that my qualification helps me perform better in my role as the qualification overall allows me to understand the job and the business side more but also it helps me to think more about each task and role in more depth. It also helps as it allows me to know the products and pairing them with other products easier.
No we don’t have any extra curricular activities with in work. We often run functions every week but also hold training sessions with other businesses but that is the closest to extra curricular activities that we have. Within my apprenticeship i am to create a project which is like planning a social activity.
Yes
I would recommend marstons as not only at the businesses good to work at but also that the apprenticeships are very worth wile. As it is an international qualification it allows you many opportunities within different work spaces ect. I would also recommend marstons as staff members are friendly including employers.
Tips And advise I would give to anyone applying would be that if they had any questions within the job at all then to not be scared to ask another member of staff. Also to speak loudly and confidently when serving and taking orders from customers that way it will make their job that bit easier.
