  • 1. Please give an overview of what your work experience involved:
  • My work experience involved dealing with customers everyday face to face and at the drive thru. I took orders and sometimes helped my co workers to prepare orders. I had to learn the basics of the fill which was quite hard to understand at first but I eventually got the hang of it!

  • 2. What training and skills development did you learn from your work experience?
  • The training and skills which I learnt/ developed from my work experience would be communication skills, I used to be extremely shy! I learnt how to handle cash and use high quality technology. I gained the knowledge of how to handle different types of foods and what temperature they should be at before serving.

  • 3. To what extent did you enjoy your work experience?
  • In all honesty I really enjoyed my experience at KFC the work is very fast paced especially during “lunchtime hours”. I made friends that were like family to me whilst working at KFC. I gained lots of skills and knowledge to guide me along my future career path! I highly recommend the experience to people.

  • 4. How well organised was your work experience?
  • My work experience was a bit complicated at first due to my application taking longer than expected to go through. However after my application had gone through and been confirmed my work experience was generally straight forward and easy to get the hang of! I liked how the rotas were so organized.

  • 5. How much did you learn about the company culture and what it would be like to work there?
  • I learnt a lot about the company’s culture, as I’m sure you know kfcs recipes was created by a man who is the face of the KFC logo! I never knew that until I had worked there! KFC is a great place to work and I think school leavers would really enjoy it!

  • 6. How much did your work experience help you in deciding on your future career path?
  • My work experience really helped me to decide my future career path! I had always wanted to go into hospitality and catering but I wasn’t sure how to go about it. KFC really helped me with this by giving me the experience I needed to now run my own food business!

  • 7. Were you paid or reimbursed for this experience?
  • I was paid for my experience I was paid monthly around £200 depending on the hours that I picked up. Sometimes the hours weren’t available to me so the minimum I received was £200! Overall the pay at KFC is great for a school leaver it’s not a lot but it’s more than average!

  • 8. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees?
  • There was plenty of opportunities for this! I made so many friends during my experience with KfC! Even with people from other branches as I would occasionally be able to pick up a few shifts in other local branches! There is definitely opportunities to meet other employees and make new friends.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • I would recommend KfC to a friend because I personally really enjoyed working there! It was hard at first but as soon as you get to grips with what needs to be done the job is fairly easy! I would definitely recommend it to someone who has recently left school as it’s the perfect opportunity to get some experience!


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to KFC UK & I?
  • The tips and advice I would give to others applying to KFC would be to think what would you do? When they give you scenario questions on your application really think about what you would do and make sure it’s real not a fake story! They’re looking for the real you!
