  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • From the beginning of my apprenticeship I was given lots of responsibilities and really made to feel part of the team. My work is not just focused on accounting, I work with my team in the FCA to help consumers.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have really developed my problem solving skills, communication skills and presenting abilities. I have been involved in important team tasks and have had to work with lots of experienced colleagues to reach decisons.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I have really enjoyed my program so far. I feel so well supported and everyone is willing to help/explain things when I need. I had very little experience of my job role before I joined but the FCA are so supportive and helpful.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • As an apprentice I have been given 20% of my time to study. This was flexible to how I wanted to do it, I opted for 1 day a week. There are always lots of conversations about what would suit me best for my program before any decisions are made.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My employer is very supportive of my study. They give me the allocated 20% of study time and it is flexible to suit particular study days. They also work with my training provider to monitor my progress.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • My training is currently all online due to the pandemic. It has definitely made it more difficult as all my lessons are online. But I can call my training provider during the week and they can answer my questions, they have adapted quickly to online learning.

  • 9/10

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • My employer has lots of social activities/sports that are company wide as well as regular interactions/networking within departments and teams.

  • 9a. Would you recommend FCA to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • I really feel supported within my role and like my employer wants me to do well. I am challenged daily and given responsibilities within the team that make me feel valued.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to FCA?
  • Understand the role/what the FCA does of course but otherwise just be you. Show personality at interviews and have a real interest in financial services
