  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I am currently a team leader & my role consists of managing shift, cashing tills, safe count, doing critical checks, focusing on sales and targets as well as letting the team know whats expected of them on that day. I deal with complaints and also help prepare food and delivering good service.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt many skills such as cash handling and maths and english skills. I have also been able to establish a leading role and the ability to clearly express my expectations and what i need from the team. My time at KFC has allowed me to progress and i am very grateful for the opportunities KFC has given me.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I have really enjoyed the apprenticeship! The coaches have been lovely and very easy to communicate with and they always explained everything to make sure i understood everything. I feel the apprenticeship helped me to progress to my team leader role as the maths and english skills are important and i couldn't have done it without them.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I found it very easy to follow and felt my trainer(s) were always very prompt and organised which in turn helped me to be also! I found the timeline that outlined what needed to happen when/how very helpful and felt it kept me in the loop at all times.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My employer was more than supportive! They allowed me time to work on assignments and also helped where they could if i needed any guidance. I always find KFC supportive so this was never a concern for me at all but i feel they went above and beyond to ensure i wasn't struggling and always made me feel confident in what i was doing.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I found the trainer(s) very supportive also! I did at times feel quite pressured but looking back they were just trying to keep me motivated so i don't think the word pressured would be what i would use now. I need a push sometimes so I feel very grateful for all the help and support of lifetime.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I was confident in my role before the training but this really helped push me to try to aim higher and deliver better service. Without this experience i don't think i would have had the confidence to become a team leader. I will be forever grateful for the skills and new understanding that i gained through the programme.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • We always have a Christmas night out however it always ends up being a night in a pub which is fun but doesn't always suit everyone as not everyone drinks alcohol and the under 18 employee's obviously can't drink. When we hit targets we get money in the team pot which helps us to fund a night out also.

  • 9a. Would you recommend KFC UK & I to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • It's a great place to work! I always find some shifts go very fast because everyone is helping out and having a laugh at the same time which really helps get the team morale up and its such a nice feeling. Would highly recommend KFC to anybody searching for a job.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to KFC UK & I?
  • I would say if you would enjoy a fun, fast paced environment then KFC is definitely the workplace for you! With the apprenticeship opportunities and progression potentials that KFC offers you can go from being a Team Member to part of the management team in just a short time if you have the drive and skills to do so. 100% happy that I applied 4 years ago.
