  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role is to work on a combination of report building work and data analysis along with general Accounts work such as Bank reconciliations refunds and month end work. Overall in my day to day role I get the opportunity to work on a variety of challenging work which allows me to develop a vast array of skills.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have definitely developed a large number of new skills. When I first joined the team I learned a lot of skills particularly Excel based along with general accounts knowledge I only had some previous experience in. More recently I am trying to develop my data analytics and report building skills which have been beneficial for my personal development

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoy the programme I am apart of. I am able to develop both academically and professionally whilst also being exposed to new challenging opportunities. The programme also offers lots of support so I always have help when needed for both University advise and work support.

  • My programme is very well organised; particularly the parts within the control of the company. First Response ensure that I get all the support and information I need to succeed.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • First Response provide me with all the support I need to succeed. There are mentors on board to go to for help with both work and University studies.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • The University provide us with lots of information for each module, and recently we have been provided with much more information about the End Point Assesment. However, going into third year and particularly with the COVID-19 pandemic more support from University regarding our assignments and the teaching would be hugely beneficial

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • A large proportion of what we learn at University can be applied back to the workplace. This has helped me further understand my business and be able to add more value in my current role.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • As an employee at First Response I feel the company consider my wellbeing and aim to get people involved in as many activities possible. Even during the pandemic First Response are encouraging the team to have virtual team nights out and continue to socialise with other employees.

  • I would highly recommend First Response to others. They provide employees with a high level of support and have their best interests at heart. This makes them a great company to work for and makes me proud to be an employee.

  • Really try to understand the company and the culture and consider whether it fits with your values. If you feel a connection to the values and the purpose then go for it!
