  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role is as part of the accounts team. In my time at First Response I have gotten involved in a number of things from projects looking to improve processes to day to day accounting tasks such as paying invoices and expenses. Overall I have had the opportunity to push myself in the role and take on new exciting opportunities whilst doing the day job

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Yes since starting my apprenticeship my skills have developed extensively!! As I started the programme as a college leave I began with little experience or knowledge. However through my time on the apprenticeship I have developed a vast array of skills such as excel, presentation skills, leadership teams, team work skills and many more!

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoyed my programme! A degree apprenticeship will always be quite challenging managing a full time role in the work and a full time degree. However I feel this challenge makes it all the more rewarding once it all pays off! I would highly recommend degree apprenticeships to people looking at furthering their education particularly if they're not sure about going to University full time.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme was very well structured throughout. I felt that the mentorship and support provided by First Response was much more than I had anticipated which helped me make it through the programme sucessfully. I also received a lot of support in the job to ensure I was getting all the learning and experience I needed to succeed on the programme.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I received a lot of support from my employer! At First Response you have a dedicated mentor who helps with your University assignments and ensures everything is going well for you in the work. This really helped me grasp skills for University and it was also just good knowing there was someone to talk to about how things were going.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • The training provider used at First Response's Nottingham office are Sheffield Hallam University. Sheffield Hallam always ensured lectures and assignments were clearly laid out whilst also offering additional support in a variety of skills. I feel that as the programme went on the support got better and better so I look forward to seeing the programme continue in future.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I feel the programme really helped me in my role at First Response. The business management course teaches you about all areas of a business. Therefore it is a great eyeopener to everything that goes on in a business which I was able to relate back to when working in my core role.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • First Response offer a wide variety of extra curricular activities! My favourite perk is the quarterly team nights out we are able to go on. Within this benefit teams get an allowance every quarter to do a team building activity such as going out for a meal or doing an escape room. I also really enjoy the annual events we do to get all of our sites together!

  • 9a. Would you recommend First Response Finance Limited to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I would highly recommend First Response to a friend, in particular the Chartered management degree apprenticeship course. First Response is a company I am proud to work for based on their strong core values and their dedication to customer service. Their focus on staff is clear to see and makes First Response a great place to work.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to First Response Finance Limited?
  • Just be yourself! Applying for a job can be daunting but finding a job is equally as much about you thinking the company is a fit for you as it is the company thinking you are a good fit for them. Therefore I always recommend being yourself and just showcase all of your skills and experience.
