  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • This role requires me to check customers and dealer documentation such as pay slips, bank statements and legal documentation (contracts). We communicate with our customers via text, email and also phone call. As part of the role we seek to understand the customers e.g we may call our customers to ask about their bank statements and payslips

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • The skills I have learnt through this role would be call handling, communication and development of collaborative relationships skills e.g building rapport with our customers and dealers as well as our team. It has also helped to improve my self confidence on decision making skills and communicating my ideas with others (eg the team)

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy the programme very much, I have had the opportunity to meet new people who have been very supportive throughout my apprenticeship. I have also have meetings with my team leader and coach where I am able to identify my weaknesses and have actions set to challenge myself and improve my overall peformance

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • It is very well organized, I have access to my work planner so I am able to see who is free when I need help and also what I am doing in the work, my university days are set well in advance so I know when I need to attend university and also have a Uni mentor in work who helps me work in my assignments and gives me advice for university

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive a lot of support, I am clear of my expectations of my role and also am able to communicate what’s expectations are for those who support me. I have 1-1 with my team leader quite often where I am able to show my progress as well as any concerns I may have. I also have support from the Uni as I have a skills coach and also have a Uni mentor at work to help me balance my work

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I have a lot of support, my Uni mentor is able to advise me on how to balance my time management by making small goal posts to work towards and ideas. My team also help for ideas as well as my team leader who catches up with me to see where I am at, what I am working on

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The qualification helps me to come more self aware and this can translate in the work, I have a better understanding of the company and my purpose, why I am there and also helps me to understand more about time management, with methods and theories which I can apply to my work life

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Yes our company has a budget every quarter for us to spend more time with the team and build our relationships outside of work for example we have gone bowling, laser quest and also went to miller and carter and plan to go to Alton towers this year. We also have meetings with the whole company eg we had a summer fair with a company update and rides that we could go on after

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • First Response Finance are a company who cares about the people and it shows. The company believed in treating the people fairly and naturally this will lead to good service and then profit. Rather than being solely profit orientated First Response actively help starters feel comfortable and welcomed into the company but putting in a lot of time for training, adapting to the different ways people learn and building the team. Pushing individuals towards they best way they can progress and the role offers many different opportunities


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to First Response Finance Limited?
  • Look into the company, their values and visions as not only would this help for an interview but can also help you see whether the company is the right fit for you and align with your morales. Be passionate and honest as the company really values being open and honest
