  • As an FS1, I mainly assist with the substantive testing. It involves testing various FSLIs and communicating effectively with other team members and the client.

  • I feel I have developed and learnt new skills. Some of the theory learnt before placement makes more sense to me now I have seen the testing/auditing in practice.

  • I have found it challenging at times but overall i have enjoyed it.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • It has been around for 14 years at Newcastle University so everyone seems to know the workings of the programme. The programme leader is also in contact with students often and seems organised.

  • Support is given if we require it.

  • The lecturers at Newcastle University are extremely supportive and happy answer questions/ assist in any way possible.

  • The theory learnt at university has definitely helped me during placement. Having acquired audit knowledge before placement has made it easier to perform my role.

  • Yes, there are social groups you get added to which consist of people of different levels so you get to meet people you might not usually socialise with.

  • Friendly staff, flexible working, you can get the chance to work abroad

  • Prepare yourself for long hours when working during busy season.
