  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I am a banking advisor and deal with customers over the telephone each day. This ranges from various diffferent things such as helping them with queries on their bank account, or apply for new products such as bank accounts, overdrafts, credit cards and savings accounts. We aim to provide a great customer service each day.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • My apprenticeship has helped me both learn new skills and develop existing skills. With having scheduled time off allocated to work on my apprenticeship it has helped me with my organsational skills as I need to make sure I am using my time effectively. It has also helped me with my research skills in finding information and self learning.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoy the programme. It gives you a different thing to do within work which makes it more exciting. It is great to have a change from my day to day role and have something additional to work on. I think it will be really rewarding at the end achieving a qualifcation for it.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme is really well organised. My time is keyed on to my schedule centrally and there is never any problems with this. I have just got a new coach and she has been great at getting the time organised that I need. I think the programme is set up really well to help you succeed.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My employer has been really helpful and offer any support I need. My team manager is a real advocate of the programme and has really been a great help. He will always be there if I need any additional help or support and will make sure I get everything I need to help me.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I have received an awful lot of support from my new coach. For the first couple of months I had to do most things on my own as my previous coach was absent with illness and then subsequently left her role. Since my new coach has came in she has been brilliant.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • So far there have been a lot of things I have learnt from the programme that will link indirectly with my role and help me in the future. I have learnt a lot about different policies and procedures and how they affect me. I have alos completed a lot of work regarding customer service which will help.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Yes there are numerous things available. We have a club called sports and social, this encourages people to go out and be active and will offer discount on a lot of things if you are a member. We have a golf society which will have a monthly outing. There is plenty of other groups available also.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Lloyds Banking Group to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • I think it is a very good place to work. There are numerous benefits such as private healthcare and we have an additional benefit called flex benefits. From this you can use an addtional 4% of your salary to receive numerous other benefits. They are a fair employer and a very good place to work for.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Lloyds Banking Group?
  • If you can be succesful in your application there are numerous avenues you can take to progress your career. We have a large branch and telephone banking network and the online side of things is increasing as the world becomes more digital. Between customer service, fraud, and many other options available you can go as far as you like.
